About Masonry

Concordant Bodies

There are many organizations associated with Masonry. Some are for the family members of Masons, like Amaranth, DeMolay, Eastern Star, Job's Daughters, and Rainbow Girls. The Scottish and York Rite organizations are available to Master Masons who wish to learn the mysteries of Ancient Craft Masonry, while the Shrine clubs are social and charitable organizations. To find out more about these organizations, click on the symbols shown below.

The concordant bodies which meet in the Bend Lodge are:

In addition to the above listed groups, there is a Scottish Rite Club and a Shrine Club active in Central Oregon.

Job's Daughters is an organization for young women 10 to 20 years old that have a relationship to a Master Mason. It teaches them important skills for life, such as leadership, organization, teamwork and self reliance. Its ritual is based on the Story of Job.
DeMolay is an organization for young men who are twelve years of age and completed the 7th grade or who are 13 to 21 years of age. It is dedicated to preparing young men to lead successful, happy, and productive lives. Members of DeMolay develop civic awareness, personal responsibility and leadership skills while building bonds of friendship and having fun. Local DeMolay groups are known as Chapters, and there are more than 1,000 chapters worldwide.

The Order of the Eastern Star is the largest fraternal organization in the world to which both men and women may belong. Eastern Star Chapters donate funds to a wide variety of worthy charities, including Cancer Research Project, Arthritis Fund, Heart Fund, Eye Foundation, and the Shriners' Hospitals for Children.
The Order of the Amaranth is a social, fraternal, and charitable organization whose membership is open to both men and women with a Masonic affiliation. Amaranth raises money to fight diabetes.
The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls is an organization for girls between the ages of 11 and 20. Unlike Job's Daughters, Rainbow Girls do not have to be related to a Master Mason, although they must have a Masonic sponsor.
In addition to offering 30 degrees of Masonic light, the Scottish Rite sponsors Childhood Language Disorder Clinics, which treat children with hearing, speech, language, or learning challenges. The Scottish Rite degrees are divided into four parts: Lodge of Perfection, Chapter of the Rose Croix, Council of Kadosh, and the Consistory.
The York Rite is divided into three groups: Royal Arch, Cryptic Masons (Council) and the Knights Templar (Commandery). The Royal Arch helps fund research and treatment of Central Auditory Processing Disorder. Cryptic Masons support research in vascular diseases, and the Knights Templar provide research, surgical treatment, and hospitalization to those who suffer from diseases or injuries to the eyes.
The Ancient Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine was founded in 1872 by a group of 13 men belonging to the Masonic Order. It was originally established to provide fun and fellowship for its members. In 1920, the Shriners Hospital for Children was founded, and since then over 700,000 children have been treated, free of charge.
